You and five guests will travel to Yakima Valley to join your host, Andy Perdue, author, editor of Wine Press Northwest, wine writer to Pacific Northwest Magazine and The Seattle Times, and judge for numerous wine competitions including Washington State Wine Competition and Seattle Wine Awards, who will serve as your personal guide as you meet the legends of Washington’s first vineyards.

Retreat to Suncadia Resort with accommodations for six. Enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Cle Elum River and Cascade Mountains and a sophisticated home-style cuisine as you dine at Portals Restaurant, located in the Lodge at Suncadia.

The following day head to your first tour at Red Willow Vineyard, a fourth generation family farm established in 1973 by owner Mike Sauer. You will then head over to Kiona Vineyards for an old vines tasting in the vineyard with owners Scott and Vickie Williams.

Your last stop will be Otis Vineyard, known for its 57 year old Cab vines, the oldest commercial Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Washington State. This vineyard was recently sold to the Tudor family, a longtime winemaking and grape-growing family. Owner Sean Tudor will serve up some wood-fired oven pizza, an old vine tasting and tour of the vineyard while sharing his family’s unique history, what’s next for the vineyard and upcoming releases from the vines.

Every Thursday, a local chef prepares a three-course, prix-fixe meal with the help of FareStart students, providing hands-on culinary training and support for FareStart’s adult training program.
